General note

Donald Harvey Francks was born February 28, 1932 in Vancouver, British Columbia and began acting as a child. He also became a musician. Lili Clark of Afro-Canadian ancestry and member of the Plains Cree First Nation met Francks while she was dancing on "The Dean Martin Show". Francks and Carter married and resided on the Red Pheasant First Nation near North Battleford, Saskatchewan for a time in the late 1960s and early 70s. Francks is an honorary Cree, named "Iron Buffalo" while Lili Francks is named “Red Eagle”. In 1974, they moved to Toronto; their children are voice artist and actress Cree Summer and actor/songwriter Rainbow Francks.
