Custodial history

W. Richard Merryweather donated these records to the Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan in one accession in 1998: R98-324.

Scope and content

Slide presentation documenting the activities and scenery in Wascana Park in Regina, Saskatchewan. The slides were produced by members of the Regina Guild of Colour Photography for competition at Slide Fest, a program organized by the Saskatoon Camera Club. Winter in Wascana won honourable recognition and was projected for public viewing at the Mendel Art Gallery. The slides represent the work of several photographers from the club, including W.R. Merryweather and J.T. Dudley. The majority of the images were taken in the winters of 1977 and 1978.

Subject matter includes: the Saskatchewan Legislative Building; Waskimo Winter Carnival; Saskatchewan Centre of the Arts; Saskatchewan Museum of Natural History; Willow Island; the old Regina Power House (currently the Saskatchewan Science Centre); geese; and various recreational activities, including cross-country skiing, ice sailing, and tobogganing.

The sound recordings include a narrative for the slides, background music, and sounds, including goose calls.
