Scope and content
Memoir of George Shepherd published by McClelland and Stewart Limited and edited with a commentary by John H. Archer. Shepherd was born in Kent, England in 1890 and emigrated to the Girvin, Saskatchewan district with his family in 1908. Around 1913, he moved to the Maple Creek district, where he worked as a rancher and was involved in the community of West Point. He also served as curator of the Western Development Museum. The publication includes references to homesteading; pioneer life; steam threshing outfits; the Depression; and the Western Development Museum.
