Graham Umpleby donated this item to the Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan in one accession in 2017: 2017-178 (December 18, 2017).
Scope and content
Family history compiled by Graham Umpleby relating to Katie (Johnson) Hedley and Horace Hedley's life on the Saskatchewan prairies, 1919 to 1923, based on the letters exchanged between Katie and her mother, Sophia. Horace Clark Hedley homesteaded on NW 13-02-24-W3, in the Divide, Saskatchewan district. After various challenges forced the Hedley family to desert the homestead, Horace Hedley went to the United States, where he died in 1931. After Horace's death, Katie and her five children returned to England, where she resided until her death in 1992.
