Biographical history

D. Grant Devine was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. He served nine years as Premier of Saskatchewan and held various Cabinet portfolios during that time. He also served as Progressive Conservative member in the Saskatchewan Legislature for the Estevan constituency.

Scope and content

This series consists of speeches delivered by Premier Devine at events throughout Saskatchewan, Canada and the United States between 1982 and 1989. The functions Devine spoke at included luncheons, banquets, official openings, annual meetings, conferences and conventions. Sub-series 1 to 8 contain transcripts of speeches and background information which is arranged by the month and year the speech was given. Sub-series 9 consists of sound recordings of Devine's speeches. Public and political records in this series are integrated within the files. The Saskatchewan Archives did not receive any transcripts or sound recordings of the speeches delivered by Devine in 1990 and 1991.
