History

The objectives of the Greystone Investment Club were: "to educate club members in the fundamental principles and techniques of sound investment practices; to enable members to invest surplus funds mutually; to follow the growth theory of investing; and to invest regularly and take advantage of compound income." Begun in 1957, the Club was originally limited to 20 members; by 1987, that number had increased to 25. Approval of new members required the unanimous consent of the membership, which tended to be from the faculty and senior administration of the University of Saskatchewan. James M. Pepper, professor and at one time Head of the Department of Chemistry, was a long-standing member of the Club, and its unofficial "historian."
