Name of creator
The Moose Jaw Fifth Wheel Club and the Moose Jaw Minus One Club were founded in the early 1980s to organize social events for local single citizens. The organizations accepted members who were widowed, divorced, or separated. The Moose Jaw Fifth Wheel Club and Moose Jaw Minus One Club amalgamated to create the Moose Jaw Town and Country Singles Club in 1997. The organization holds dances twice a month in Moose Jaw. It belongs to the Association of Minus One Clubs of Saskatchewan.
Scope and content
This fonds contains two series: Officers’ Manuals and Minutes and Financial Reports. It is comprised of manuals created by the organization for the use of its officers, which include the constitution, financial records, meeting minutes and information about other members of the Association of Minus One Clubs of Saskatchewan. The fonds also contains regular, executive, and annual meeting minutes and reports.
Immediate source of acquisition
This material was donated to the Moose Jaw Public Library Archives Department in two accessions by Valerie Merrick. The first accession was donated in 2011 and the second accession was donated in 2012.
The documents from the different organizations (Fifth Wheel Club, Minus One Club, Town and Country Singles Club and Minus One Clubs of Saskatchewan) were arranged by the Town and Country Singles Club into manuals for the organizations’ officers’ use. There is sometimes little distinction between organizations within the folders; however, this is how the material was used. The original arrangement has been maintained for this reason.
