Biographical history

Lorne Henry Hepworth was born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan in 1947. Prior to entering politics, he worked as a veterinarian in Weyburn and operated a family farm near Assiniboia. Hepworth served as a Progressive Conservative member in the Saskatchewan Legislature for the Weyburn constituency (1982-1991) and as a Cabinet minister in the Grant Devine Government (1983-1991). Hepworth currently (2006) resides in Toronto, Ontario, where he is President of CropLife Canada.

Custodial history

Lorne Hepworth donated these records to the Regina office, Saskatchewan Archives in two accessions in 1990 and 1991: R90-014 (January 17, 1990) and R91-253 (August 28, 1991). Records created by Ray Meiklejohn were identified in the Lorne Hepworth fonds at the time of arrangement.

Scope and content

This series consists of records created, accumulated and used in 1989 by Lorne Hepworth as Minister of Education.

A small volume of records created by Ray Meiklejohn, Hepworth's successor in the portfolio, is included.
