Biographical history

Ethel Leard Lobb was born January 31, 1905, Bridgetown, P.E.I. Parents were William E.B. Lear and Annie Ayers. The family moved to Beatty Sk. in 1919. Her father was a merchant in Beatty, Sk. Ethel married William O. Lobb of Beatty Sk. October 25, 1923. Their three sons were Harley, Lyle and Lorne. They farmed near Beatty until 1950's. Ethel attended in 1959 the United Church Training Centre, Toronto, Prairie Christian Training Center, Fort Qu'appelle, Sk. Then worked for the Canadaian National Institue for the Blind for Southern Saskatchewan. Ethel retired to Melfort in 1970. She was active in the Beatty and the Melfort United Church. During this time Ethel was correspondant for the Melfort Journal.

Fonds include black and white photographs some with matching negatives, scrapbooks and other memorabilia. Photographs of Beatty community and Melfort community events. Including school, church, farming and special community events.
