Biographical history

Ka-Iu Fung was born in Hong Kong on 26 June 1935. He earned a BA (1960) and a Diploma in Education from the University of Hong Kong, a MSc (1965) from the University of Alberta and his PhD (1979) from the University of London. Dr. Fung joined the University of Saskatchewan's department of Geography in 1965 as an instructor. He was promoted to full professor in 1983 and retired in 2002. Fung was instrumental in the compilation and publication of two editions of the "Atlas of Saskatchewan" (1969 and 1999), and is an expert on urbanization in China.
