Fonds consists of records created by Western Producer Prairie Books publishing company, (1954-1988). The records are arranged in fifteen series reflecting the functions of the organization: Administration; Author Files; Books; Calendars; Catalogues; Committees; Design Files; Editorial Files; Education Files; Festivals and Fairs; Financial Records; Manuscripts; Publicity and Promotion; Songbook; and Computer Print-outs. The records primarily cover the years in which Prairie Books operated as an independent department, 1975-1991. However, the majority of books published back to 1954 are found in the collection, by a wide variety of authors including such popular prairie writers as James Gray, John Charyk, Hugh Dempsey, Grant MacEwan, R.H. MacDonald, J.G. MacGregor and many more. The fonds is remarkably complete, containing annual reports, marketing materials, budgets, personnel records, grant files, contacts, photographs, production records, publications, financial statements, sales records, inventory reports, customer files, manuscripts, book ideas, meeting files, and other records documenting all aspects of the book publishing business. Of particular interest is the extensive correspondence with authors, publishers, federal and provincial government agencies, libraries, bookstores, book clubs, book sellers' organizations, suppliers, and publishers' associations. Notable among the latter is a series of files relating the Association of Canadian Publishers, 1976-1984.

Fonds consist of 300 slides of prairie wildflowers taken by Fenton R. Vance and used in the book, "Wildflowers across the prairies."

Fonds consists of personal papers of Charles Torville, including personal documents, correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings, business and financial records, association files, and manuscripts relating to his activities as a businessman, mystic, songwriter, poet, and writer. Of particular interest are his letters from his sister Elsie Torville, in England (1906-08). His own writing is fractured and borders on incoherent.

Fonds consists of personal and professional papers of Dean of Engineering John B. Mantle, 1937-1976. The records have not been processed but the following series can be identified: Student Notebooks (1939-1941, 1946-1947, 1963-1964); Teaching (1949-1967); Publications and Papers by Mantle (1948-1970); Research Papers by Others (1937-1976); Photographs (1948-1954); University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus Committees (1973); and Professional Associations (1962-1974). The last two series contain the transcripts and report of the Senior Academic Committee Subcommittee Studying Student Participation in University Government; and correspondence, reports, meeting materials, minutes, procedures, syllabus of examination, and other documentation of the Canadian Accreditation Board of the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers, including accreditation visits to the University of Western Ontario, the University of Calgary, and the University of Manitoba. The photos in this fonds depict University of Saskatchewan Mechanical Engineering classes and R.C.A.F Squadron groups. The Teaching files contain student papers, lab assignments, instructional materials, memoranda and background papers pertaining to classes taught by John B. Mantle, and the Research Papers relate chiefly to photoelasticity. In addition to published articles by John Mantle, the Publications and Papers series includes correspondence, photographs, diagrams, lab reports, drafts, and unpublished papers.

Fonds consists of professional records generated by engineering professor Oscar D. Seawell, [1971]-1991. The records have not been processed but they include administrative files, personnel and student files, publications, research grants and applications, research files, professional associations files, studies and reports, university and Faculty of Engineering committee files, background material, lectures, assignments and schedules, exams and quizzes, student projects and theses and other records relating to Mr. Seawell's research, teaching, professional activities, and administrative role.

Fonds consists primarily of records generated by two committees: the Saskatchewan Department of Education's Committee of Inquiry on Teacher Salary Negotiation Procedures, 1966-67, and the University of Saskatchewan's Joint Committee on Higher Education, 1965-68. Dr. Harvey was a member of the Joint Committee on Higher Education and was chairman of the Regina Campus Sub-Committee. The major purposes of the Joint Committee were: to examine all aspects of post-secondary education; to examine the feasibility of establishing several colleges in defined regions of the province to further the economic and cultural development of the region; and to examine and evaluate the articulation of all formal and informal educational programs in a community.

Fonds consists of the professional papers of journalist Garry Fairbairn, arranged in three series reflecting three spheres of activity. The first series contains correspondence, copy, clippings, and other records documenting his career as a reporter for the Canadian Press Organization (CP), 1962-1981. The second series pertains to Fairbairn's involvement in the Saskatchewan Journalists Association, 1973-1978. It contains executive minutes, clippings, membership lists, briefs, correspondence, incorporation, founding convention and annual meeting materials, financial information, and publications including issues of 'The Saskatchewan Journalist'. Administrative files, research materials, photographs, and drafts relating to Fairbairn's commissioned book:, 'From Prairie Roots: the Remarkable Story of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool', comprise the third series.

Collection consists of an eclectic assortment of papers assembled by Ron Robbins, former head of the School of Journalism and Communications at the University of Regina, and intended to serve as a research base for students in the program. Included are drafts, corrections, galleys, proofs, reviews, research materials, correspondence, and other records created by, and relating to works by, writers Joan Givner, Lyn Harrington, Ross Munro, Eleanor Wright Pelrine, and Tom White, William Stevenson, and Maggie Siggins. Titles covered are: Givner's 'Katherine Anne Porter - A Life' (1982); Harrington's 'Syllables of Recorded Time: A History of the Canadian Authors Association' (1981) and 'The Shaman's Evil Eye' (1979); Munro's 'Gauntlet to Overlord' (1945, 1972), Stevenson's 'The Bormann Brotherhood' (1973), 'A Man Called Intrepid' (1976), and 'The Ghosts of Africa' (1980), and White's 'Saskatchewan Cougar - Elusive Cat' (1982); as well as Pelrine's biography (and related TV script) of Dr. Henry Morgentaler (1975) and Siggins' biography of John Bassett (1979) and her research material relating to the closure of the 'Toronto Telegram' (ca. 1971). The collection also contains issues of the 'Saskatchewan Journalist' (1975-1978), the Saskatchewan Journalists Association 'Newsletter' (1975), and the Canadian Parliamentary Guide' (1975-1980), as well as CBC guide books for federal and provincial elections, 1971-1981. The latter, which were contributed to the collection by Pierre Paquet, includes the Montreal municipal election of 1978.

Fonds consists of professional papers of Canadian investigative journalist John Sawatsky, 1977-1987. The bulk of the records concern four books written by Sawatsky. Relating to the first book, an expos of the private life of Soviet defector Igor Gouzenko, entitled 'Gouzenko: The Untold Story', are research files, manuscripts and drafts, interview transcripts, and sound recordings of conversations with Mrs. Gouzenko (1978-1984). The research files contain copies of clippings, court, and financial documents dating back to the 1940s. Pertaining to two books, 'Men in the Shadows: The RCMP Security Service' and 'For Services Rendered: Leslie James Bennett, and the RCMP Security Service'; the fonds includes research files, clippings, and galleys (1977-1982). Interview transcripts, manuscripts, proofs, and indexes relating to 'The Insiders: Government, Business and the Lobbyists' (1982-1987) are also present. In addition, correspondence and reports arising out of John Sawatsky's time at the University of Regina as Max Bell Professor of Journalism (1984-1985) and a small quantity of personal material are also included.

Fonds consists of professional papers of investigative journalist, Walter Stewart. The bulk of the material was generated by Stewart during the research, writing, and publication of his numerous books, articles, and newspaper columns, 1948-1993. Included are correspondence, outlines, contracts, extensive research materials, notes and notebooks, drafts, tearsheets, galleys, photos, publications, publicity materials and reviews. Also of note is a series of early 'Maclean's' magazine files (1953-1960) which were rescued by Stewart during one of his stints with the magazine. Much original and copied material from 'Maclean's' staff members other than Stewart is present in these files, and Stewart's own Maclean's files from a later period (1967-1982) are also contained in the fonds. Business correspondence (1967-1984), Stewart's correspondence as editor of 'Policy Options' magazine (1988-1992), and a small quantity of his personal correspondence (1982-1993) are also included.

Fonds consists of the personal papers of educator Joseph Duffy, and has been arranged to reflect the diversity of the creator's interests. His concerns for the use (and misuse) of the English language, as well as for educational theory, are manifest in the EDUCATIONAL/INSTRUCTIONAL THEORY section. Also included in the section, and in the PUBLICATIONS section, are files relating to his work on the Department of Education's Division IV English Curriculum Committee. Joseph Duffy's active participation in professional organizations concerned about the state of the English Teaching profession is evident in the PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS category. Various PUBLICATIONS, and files relating to SECONDARY EDUCATION at Marian High School, have received their own sections. UNIVERSITY OF REGINA records have been subdivided as follows: Faculty of Education (includes the Task Force on Secondary Teacher Education); Lecture Notes - Education Courses; Joseph Duffy as Student; Students; and University of Regina - General. Perhaps the most interesting sub-category is the Lecture Notes, from which the researcher can catch glimpses of the style and technique that made Joseph Duffy a popular professor. The Joseph Duffy fonds provides insight into a man committed to excellence in his profession, driven by a quest for knowledge, and dedicated to transmitting his message in a humorous and thoughtful way.

Fonds consists of personal and literary papers of Saskatchewan writer Sharon Butala, 1981-1987. The records are arranged in three series: Correspondence with cultural organizations, government agencies, media, friends, writers, and others (1981-1987); Publications by Sharon Butala (1985); and Writings and Drafts (1982-1987). The latter contains various drafts and manuscripts of a number of unpublished and published works including 'Sweet Time' (Herren, 1985), 'Country of the Heart' (Fifth House, 1984), 'Luna' (Harper Collins, 1988), and 'From the Heart'.

Fonds consists of personal, professional, and literary papers of English professor and writer Joan Givner, [ca. 1950s]-1995). Although the fonds has been only partially processed, and arrangement differs among the various accessions, in general the records fall into the following series: Biographical (1978); Clippings (1979-1985); Correspondence (1958-19895); Writings by Joan Givner ([ca. 1950s]-1995, largely undated); Publications (1967-1990); Personal Files (1969-1985); Photographs (19__-1981); Professional and Research Files (1971-1995); and Writings and Speeches by Others (1950-1984). Of particular interest are extensive correspondence, photographs, research materials, clippings, drafts, manuscripts, publicity materials, and reviews relating to the researching, writing, and publication of 'Katherine Anne Porter': A Life', as well as drafts of numerous short stories, plays, and essays by Givner. Also noteworthy is a large quantity of personal and professional correspondence with family, friends, acquaintances, academic and professional colleagues, university departments, publishers and booksellers, students, and writers. Family photographs and biographical material are also present in the fonds, as well as small amounts of teaching materials.

Fonds consists of professional papers of psychology professor Lewis W. Brandt. Included are publications, student papers, teaching materials, committee and department files, exam papers, and Dr. Brandt's extensive correspondence in English, German, and French.

Fonds consists of personal and professional papers created by psychology professor Duncan Blewett, 1954-1988. The bulk of the material has not been processed, but it includes: personal (1965-1988) and professional (1958-1979) correspondence; writings, speeches, and notes by Dr. Blewett (1958-1985) chiefly relating to psychedelics and psychotronics; articles by others about Dr. Blewett and his work (1959-1984), teaching materials and student theses (1972-1986); and various published works. Especially noteworthy is the extensive documentation relating to LSD research undertaken by Blewett and others, dating from 1955-1984 and comprised of interview forms, patient assessment scales, correspondence, data tables, reports, clippings, notes, and unpublished and published articles. A small quantity of material pertaining to departmental matters is also present.
