Jack Boan fonds

Fonds consists of personal and professional papers created by economics professor Jack Boan, from the 1940s to 1985. Most of the records have not been processed but generally they fall into the following series: Professional Correspondence (1962-1978); Community and Professional Concerns, Organizations and Affiliations (1965-1985); Conferences, Colloquia, Workshops ([ca. 1967]-1985); Personal ([ca. 1940s], 1970-1976); Publications and Writings by Dr. Boan (1951-1976); Reference Files ([ca. 1945]-1983); Royal Commission on Health Services (1962-1965); and University Work ([ca. 1945]-1983). In the University Work series the following sub-series are found: Administration (1961-1975); Faculty (1962-1971); Teaching ([ca.1945]-1983); and Youth/Students (1960-1976). Of particular interest are the extensive files relating to the various community, professional, and student organizations with which Dr. Boan was involved at the local, regional, and national levels. These contain correspondence, meeting materials, financial documents, reports, newsletters, and other material pertaining to numerous groups in the areas of community planning, broadcasting, resources, economics, and, especially, international development. Some of the organizations are: the Community Planning Association of Canada, Regina Branch (1966-1973) and Saskatchewan Division (1967-1972); Man and Resources (1972-1973); the Canadian Bureau for International Education (1973-1976); CUSO, local and national (1960-1976); World University Service of Canada (1963-1971); and the United Nations Association, Regina Branch (1968-1969), 1980-1985). Also notable are the correspondence, budgets, grant applications, program materials, audio recordings, photos, and other records concerning the planning, organization, and funding of the second Canadian Conference on Health Economics held at the University of Regina in September, 1983, and chaired by Dr. Boan. The fonds also contains substantial series of teaching and reference files dating from the 1940s to 1983. Besides teaching materials, lecture notes, examinations, class lists, and other records directly relevant to the courses Dr. Boan taught, these files incorporate a broad range of background information in agricultural economics, water resources, recreation, mining, health, transportation, energy, land management, forecasting, and other areas of academic interest and expertise.

Fonds consists of personal and professional papers created by Saskatchewan poet and writer, Anne Campbell. The papers are arranged in twelve series reflecting her numerous interests and activities: Arts/Cultural Organizations; Clippings; Correspondence files; Educational Institutions; Employment files; Exhibition Brochures/Invitations/Programs; Interests; Personal files; Photographs; Professional Organizations; Publications/Writings/Drafts by Anne Campbell; and Publications/ Writings/Drafts by others. Of particular interest is the extensive series of correspondence with family, relatives, friends, writers, artists, and colleagues, as well as drafts, manuscripts, reviews, and published versions of her writings. Taken together with her calendars, diaries, notes, and photographs these papers provide personal insights into Anne Campbell and the development of her work. Beyond that, files relating to the numerous cultural and professional organizations with which she was involved, especially the Saskatchewan Writer's Guild, the Writers union of Canada, and the League of Canadian poets, cast light on the craft of writing and creating poetry in Saskatchewan and on the milieu in which those activities occur. Additionally, files relating to local cultural groups, including an extensive series on Heritage Regina, provide evidence of the local cultural scene.

Robert Cosbey fonds

Fonds consists of professional papers of English Professor Robert C. Cosbey, 1959-1981. The records are arranged in five series: Associations; Oral History Projects; 'All in Together Girls'; Teaching; and Sound Recordings. Within the latter series, the audio tapes have been organized as follows: Folk Songs, including radio programs and related research material; Oral History; Skipping Songs; and Student Projects. The textual records consists of conference and workshop materials, correspondence and general files pertaining to oral history associations; guides, manuals, correspondence, reports, conference material, grant files and reference files concerning oral history; reports, text, and transcripts relating to Cosbey's book 'All in Together Girls'; and course descriptions and student papers. Photographs found in the student papers chiefly relate to old-time musicians and dancing, square dancers, farm life in Saskatchewan, and school yard games. Also included are slides of quilts made by various women.

Saros Cowasjee fonds

Fonds consists of personal, professional and literary papers of Indio-Canadian writer and professor, Saros Cowasjee, 1939-1997. While the arrangement differs among the various accessions, overall the records fall into the following series: Biographical Information, Correspodence, Writings by Saros Cowasjee, Editing, Mulk Raj Anand, Sean O'Casey, Conferences, Publications, Awards and Research Grants, and Teaching. Included are contracts, drafts, manuscripts, correspondence, proofs, publications, reviews, and other records relating to the numerous books, essays, chapters, scholarly articles, short stories, belles-lettres, features, reviews, and letters to the editor written by Dr. Cowasjee. Of particular note is the extensive documentation of his research and writing on Irish playwright Sean O'Casey and Indian author Mulk Raj Anand, including substantial correspondence from Anand, 1965-1990. There is also ample coverage of Cowasjee's editorial work, particularly relating to his re-examination of the literature produced in India during the Raj period, and the reprinting of several of those titles. The fonds contains wide-ranging correspondence between Cowasjee and publishers, writers, magazine editors, students, researchers, film producers, readers, friends and associates, as well as Canadian, British, Indian, American and international academics and scholars.

Fonds consists of personal, professional, and literary papers of English professor and writer Joan Givner, [ca. 1950s]-1995). Although the fonds has been only partially processed, and arrangement differs among the various accessions, in general the records fall into the following series: Biographical (1978); Clippings (1979-1985); Correspondence (1958-19895); Writings by Joan Givner ([ca. 1950s]-1995, largely undated); Publications (1967-1990); Personal Files (1969-1985); Photographs (19__-1981); Professional and Research Files (1971-1995); and Writings and Speeches by Others (1950-1984). Of particular interest are extensive correspondence, photographs, research materials, clippings, drafts, manuscripts, publicity materials, and reviews relating to the researching, writing, and publication of 'Katherine Anne Porter': A Life', as well as drafts of numerous short stories, plays, and essays by Givner. Also noteworthy is a large quantity of personal and professional correspondence with family, friends, acquaintances, academic and professional colleagues, university departments, publishers and booksellers, students, and writers. Family photographs and biographical material are also present in the fonds, as well as small amounts of teaching materials.

Fonds consists of records documenting the personal and professional life of artist and teacher Ted Godwin. The records are arranged in thirteen series: Artifacts (1980-1984); Art Works, Designs, Sketches and Posters (1949-1987); Calendars and Diaries (1969-1986); Correspondence (ca. 1964-1984); Financial Records, Personal (1955-1984); General Files (ca. 1965-1986); Miscellaneous Material; Newspaper Clippings, Articles; Photographs and Negatives (ca. 1950-1986); Publications (1929, 1942, 1949-1986); Slides; Audio Tapes (1981); and Videotapes (1982-1987). Of particular interest are Godwin's original sketches, sketchbooks, works of art, and posters, as well as a large quantity of photographs, slides, videotapes, exhibition catalogues, and other publications relating to his work and the work of other artists. Also noteworthy is the correspondence with architects, art galleries, and dealers, artists, art teachers, family and friends which contains copies of Godwin's outgoing letters. The General Files chiefly comprise files relating to his professional life including business correspondence; correspondence and financial records pertaining to the Hard Art Moving and Storage Co. and other enterprises; professional organization files; correspondence, lecture notes and student papers relating to his work at the University of Regina and other institutions; and a small quantity of Godwin's prose and poetry. Small amounts of personal and family materials are also found in the financial records, photographs, slides, and videotapes.

Terrence Heath fonds

Fonds consists of personal and professional papers created by Terrence Heath, a Saskatchewan freelance writer, cultural consultant, and curator. While the arrangement of series differs somewhat between accessions, as a whole the fonds contains corresspondence, financial records, personal files, publications, drafts and photographs, the bulk of which relate to Heath's writing and to his consulting activities. Of particular note is his vast correspondence with cultural organizations and galleries, government agencies, professional organizations, publishers and book dealers, universities, media outlets, writers, poets, artists, friends, family and others, which provide a wealth of information about the literary and cultural scene in Canada. The extensive series of Heath's writings and publications including articles, essays, reviews, books, exhibition catalogues, poetry, consultant's reports, manuscripts, plays, radio scripts and commentaries, filmscripts, short stories, student papers, and talks, provide insight into his development as a writer and his wide-ranging expertise in the cultural arena. Along with the writings and publications by other authors contained in the fonds, these records serve as a rich source for the study of Canada's cultural history chiefly during the 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s. Small quantities of personal documents and financial records are also included.

Fonds consists of 18 series: Biographical Material;Family; Personal; Early Recreation; Education; Army Service; Working Career; Personal Art Interests and Activities; Professional Activities; Professional Organizations; Writing; Newspaper Clippings; Photographs and Negatives; Publications; Scrapbooks; Slides; Sound Tapes; Death. Most series are subdivided into series and sub-series. Of particular note are: Correspondence; King's College, Cambridge University; Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF); Monuments, Fine Arts and Archives (MFA); Wiesbaden, Germany (Allied Restitution of Nazi Looted Art); Henry E. Huntington Library; Metropolitan Museum of Art; Royal Ontario Museum; University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus; and York University. Although Heinrich did not publicly proclaim his homosexuality, this aspect of his life is also reflected in his papers and thus they represent a rare source of information on the homosexual lifestyle, particularly in the 1940s and 50s. The travel photographs of both Heinrich and his father, Edward Oscar Heinrich, are particularly noteworthy, as are Heinrich's photographs relating to World War II and the MFA.
