Drafts

This series contains draft documents written by Leith Knight for her history columns in the Times Herald newspaper. All histories pertain to Moose Jaw and area. The vast majority are marked by a letter and a number in the top right corner, denoting a method of categorization. The drafts that have been marked are divided into letters A, C, E, F, G, H, K, L M, N, O, and P, which constitute the majority of the subseries. The remaining draft documents are not marked and have been organized into the “Assorted Drafts” subseries. The subject matter of each draft and letter vary greatly.

Electric Railway

This series contains copies of articles from the Moose Jaw Evening Times and The Railway and Marine World periodicals, which are organized by year. Many articles are highlighted and there is a legend to indicate the meanings of the different colours. The Heseltons have summarized the articles and their drafts are found throughout these files. This research was conducted in preparation for their book, entitled “Not to exceed 10 miles per hour”: The story of the Moose Jaw Electric Railway 1910-1932 and Public Transportation in Moose Jaw to 2003.

Empress of Ireland

This series contains research on the Empress of Ireland, including newly printed text from Moose Jaw Evening Times articles on the sinking of the ship, accounts of locals, and photocopies of articles.

Ephemera

This series contains the ephemera of the club. It is divided into subseries assorted ephemera, and club rosters.

Ephemera

This series contains information booklets on the Moose Jaw Union Hospital and its nursing program, the Nurses’ Glee Club concert, the Moose Jaw General Hospital and Nurses Residence, a calendar for the Moose Jaw Union Hospital School of Nursing, and requirements for approval of schools of nursing and admission to the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses’ Association. Also included are booklets on the official cornerstone laying and opening of the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Memorial Wing.

Erlin Kaiser

This series contains the records created by Erlin Kaiser, accumulated by his son Jerry. Included items are biographies of his father Andrew John Kaiser, poems, stories, sheet music, draft biographies, diaries, a history on Baildon, an appointments book, and a minutes book from an organization in Baildon.

Ernestine Hudson

This series contains documents related to Ernestine Hudson, including pictures of and correspondence between Bea Lett and Ernestine Hudson and in memoriam material for Hudson. It also contains a scrapbook of well wishes for her retirement from teaching math and French at A. E. Peacock Technical High School for 34 years. Lett and Hudson were colleagues.

This series contains multimedia materials depicting various events hosted and attended by Elk members. This includes curling tournaments, minor football, loonie draws, fashion shows, fundraisers, and various other events. Many of the photographs are not dated and the individuals are unidentified.

Events

This series contains documents pertaining to various events hosted and attended by Rotary club members. It includes posters for events, such as comedy nights and business achievement awards, as well as information about the Rotary District Conferences. It contains a centennial planning kit, a slide presentation about Moose Jaw for incoming exchange students and correspondence regarding the organization’s involvement with Festival of Words.

Events and Courses

This series contains records pertaining to events and courses held by the Chamber of Commerce. It includes documents about conventions, exhibitions, and programs, such as business management courses, homecoming 1971, wagon train project, calendar of events, Chamber of Commerce week and CHAB Radio’s 50th Anniversary.

Facility

This series includes records about the Chamber of Commerce building, particularly building permits and maintenance of the new building.

Family Letters

This series includes letters written to and from members of Leith’s family. The letters are all written by a mother and father, presumably Leith’s. The file regarding Doug includes a card and an envelope.
