School Programs - Various 1986-90 - Fire Department Tour

The Saskatchewan Bulletin, cot. 22, 1986, p. 1; "Martensville Grade 2 student Shannon McDougal is outfitted in full firefighter's regalia by Harry Pylpow, a captain with that town's volunteer fire department. Shannon was joined by more than 20 of her classmates on a tour of the fire department as part of a community profile they're doing of Martensville. The week of Oct. 6 was fire safety week."

Here, Elf Wendy Jeddry helps Ryan Sparvier, a Grade 3 student at Pleasant Hill school in Saskatoon, pick out presents for his family at the Santa's Bag store that opened Nov. 29 at the school. This is the third year Santa's Bag has helped children, 12 and under, to buy affordable Christmas gifts. Any profits from the store go to Big Sisters."

The centre was among ones created by second- and third-year students during March on dinosaurs, the solar system and the Saskatchewan wilderness, as well as plants. All offered hands-on activities for elementary students."
