The bell, which served as a symbolic baton, is inscribed with the relay's theme: Preserve Education Please! As news media look on, run organizer Kennedy tells Betkowski the event's purpose was to publicize the concern many Albertans have for the well-being of their education system in the face of the government's recently announced three-per-cent school funding cutbacks."
