St. Thomas More College fonds

This fonds includes material related to the pre-history of the college, and in particular the activities of the Newman Society, which was formed by a group of Catholic laymen, with its major work to be the establishment of a Catholic college at the University of Saskatchewan. Other records are: minutes, reports and correspondence of the Principals/Presidents, the Corporation, the Faculty/Administration Forum, and the student organizations: Newman Club/Centre and St. Thomas More Students Association. Some of the records, including photocopies of relevant documents from other archives, were acquired by then college archivist Fr. Alphonse de Valk during the late 1960s and early 1970s. In cases where de Valk is clearly the compiler, it has been so noted in the file list. Photographs consist of views of the white house (original and expanded), the construction of the stone building in its three phases (1953-1969), interiors, student activities and special events in the college over the years. In most cases the creators of the photographs are unknown.

John Archer fonds

Fonds consists of personal and professional papers of Dr. John Archer, including: records on federal and provincial committees and commissions; material on Dr. Archer's Ph.D dissertation; speeches, papers and reports presented by Dr. Archer; diaries and appointment books; family and professional photographs; records of professional organizations, notably the Canadian Library Association;publications written or edited by John Archer; records on Dr. Archer's activities at Brandon, McGill, and Queens Universities, and the University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus (University of Regina); and Saskatchewan Roughriders football team memorabilia. Of particular interest is the personal correspondence with family, friends and associates, from Europe, including letters to Alice Archer during WW II, and correspondence from various politicians and civil servants, some of whom left government in 1964. These include Roy Borrowman, T.C. Douglas, Al Gillmore, C.B. Koester, Woodrow Lloyd, Clary Mitchell, Charles Schwartz and George Stephen. Also noteworthy is the extensive series of Dr. Archer's speeches and reports during his tenure as Prinicipal and President of the University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus, and the University of Regina.

Fonds consists of personal papers of Lloyd Ingram Barber who was President of the University of Regina from 1976-1990. Dating from 1955-1992, the records include general files (1959-1988), clippings, annual reports, class materials, and personal correspondence (1955-1992). Of particular interest are Dr. Barber's extensive Indian and Native files, 1965-1985. These contain conference materials, correspondence, daily journals, treaties, documents and publications, audio tapes, land claim court case files, and files relating to various Native organizations, all generated during his tenure as Indian Claims Commissioner, as well as personal files pertaining to Aboriginal affairs generally. Also noteworthy is the complete record of speeches delivered by Dr. Barber, 1961-1990, and files containing correspondence, reports, meeting materials, financial statements, and other records relating to the many directorships held by Dr. Barber, 1977-1992.

Fonds consists of questionnaires, correspondence, notes, photographs, and research files generated by James M. Pitsula pertaining to his book, 'An Act of Faith: The Early Years of Regina College', 1984-1986. Of particular interest are questionnaires completed by former Regina College students recording their memories of the institution, as well as correspondence with some alumni. The research files contain notes, copies of articles, newspaper clippings, and photocopies of archival documents housed at the University of Regina Archives, the Saskatchewan Archives Board, and elsewhere. Although the research occurred in 1984-1986, the time-span under study was 1911-1939, and the copied documents and photographs originate from that period. The photos are copy negatives of originals in the collection of the University of Regina Archives. Most, but not all, were used in the book
