Local reports and newsletters collection

This collection consists of annual reports created by more than 220 pastoral charges that existed within the boundaries of the United Church of Canada Saskatchewan Conference, from the late-1960s through 2018, and Living Skies Regional Council, from 2019 through 2021. Some church newsletters, financial statements, histories and associated documents are also included.

Walter C. Murray fonds

Fonds consists of papers primarily relating to Dr. Murray's work with the Presbyterian Church and the United Church of Canada. Murray, who was a prominent Presbyterian, supported the church union movement (which led to the founding of the United Church, in 1925) and these records cover his time on the Joint Committee on Union, from 1905, and later as a member of the Dominion Church Property Commission, ca.1924-1928, which assigned assets of the three uniting churches (Presbyterian, Methodist, Congregationalist).

Contents include: reports, Records of Proceedings (minutes) and other papers relating to the Joint Committee on Union and its sub-committees; correspondence, notes and exhibits relating to the Dominion Church Property Commission; and additional correspondence relating to Church Union.

The collection consists of primarily textual materials relating to various ministers and other lay people associated with the United Church, in Saskatchewan. Contents include obituaries, newspaper articles, pamphlets, programs, publications, and various other documents containing biographical information. Some are accompanied by portraits.

The collection consists primarily of documents relating to the histories of various local churches in Saskatchewan. Contents include written historical narratives (sketches) and notes, newspaper articles, pamphlets, and publications. Among these are volumes 1 and 2 of the local history book "Early History of Saskatchewan Churches (Grass Roots)", compiled and edited by Meredith B. Banting, ca.1975.

United Church of Canada publications collection

The collection consists of primarily textual publications of the (national-level) United Church of Canada (UCC), its General Council, Boards and Divisions. Contents include: reproductions of the Basis of Union (1925) and related documents; published reproductions of General Council [meetings], as well as meeting agendas and reports; UCC Year Books, with detailed lists of pastoral charges and various national statistics and reports; multiple editions of the UCC Manual; minutes and reports from the Board of Home Missions, Board of Evangelism and Social Services, Division of Mission, Board of Colleges and Secondary Schools; Division of Ministry Personnel and Education; and published documents of Regina College (1911-1934); and items from St. Andrew's College Diamond Jubilee.

Woman's Missionary Society (United Church) publications collection

The collection consists of publications relating the Women's Missionary Society of the United Church of Canada. Contents include: reports of the Women's Missionary Society; reports of the Dominion Board; and historical accounts of the W.M.S., church missions and missionary work.

Frank Hoffman fonds

The fonds primarily consists of papers by and relating to Rev. Hoffman and his and others work among Hungarian immigrants.

Contents include: correspondence and reports about missions in Alberta and Northern Saskatchewan; a list of Hungarian immigrants to Canada (some photos included); Az Otthon 1922-1925 (in Hungarian); and related materials, newspaper clippings, and documents concerning mission work and fieldwork Hoffman and others undertook in Saskatchewan. Among the materials is a biographical sketch of the Rev. Emerick Csendes [Czendes], written by Rev. Hoffman, and a copy of “Tales of Hoffman” by R.W. Hardy.
