Custodial history

Joe Zeman donated some of these records to the Regina office, Saskatchewan Archives, in four accessions between 1977 and 1983: 735 (R); R77-180 (June 30, 1977); R83-269 (May 19, 1983); and R83-404 (September 16, 1983). Joe Zeman donated some of these records to the Saskatoon office, Saskatchewan Archives, in twelve accessions between 1985 and 2002: S85-209 (November 15, 1985); S86-40 (February 27, 1986); S86-117 (June 6, 1986); S86-245 (December 22, 1986); S87-10 (January 19, 1987); S87-16 (January 29, 1987); S88-83 (October 17, 1988); S89-1 (January 4, 1989); S89-74 (August 4, 1989); S93-65 (September 27, 1993); S2001-71 (December 19, 2001) and S2002-10 (March 14, 2002). Brenda Zeman, daughter of Joe Zeman, donated some of these records to the Saskatoon office, Saskatchewan Archives, in two accessions in 2009 and 2010: 2009-425 (April 23, 2009) and 2010-055 (March 4, 2010). Original textual records acquired in accessions R83-404 and S876, and initially described as R-F78, were copied onto microfilm and removed from the holdings of the Saskatchewan Archives.

Scope and content

This fonds consists of records created, accumulated and used by Joe Zeman of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The records pertain mainly to his family history, his involvement in the Slovak community within Saskatchewan, his participation in various sports organizations, his employment in the Department of Agriculture - Economics Divison, and his activities with the Saskatchewan Agricultural Graduates Association, and with the Saskatoon Normal School 1933-1934 Reunion committee.

Small volumes of records created, accumulated and used by Joseph Kanik, Brenda Zeman and by Joseph Zeman, Sr. are included in the fonds.

The types of records included are correspondence; memoranda; photographs; obituaries; minutes; handbooks; newspaper clippings; reports; publications; newspapers; programmes; maps; and a drawing.
