The City of Saskatoon Archives is a public institution with a mandate to preserve, maintain and provide access to the historical records of the City of Saskatoon and its predecessor bodies, as well as to the records of selected individuals, families, groups and organizations deemed to be significant to an understanding of the history of Saskatoon and area. It acts both to support the administrative and legislative functions of the Corporation of the City of Saskatoon as well as to be a public information resource. The Archives is a component of the Office of the City Clerk.

Primarily records of the corporation of the City of Saskatoon but also including some related private records. Collections include:

• City Council and committee minutes and supporting records (1905-1984)
• City of Saskatoon bylaws (1903-1987)
• City Commissioners' Records (1923-1951)
• City Commissioners' Annual Reports (1913-1956)
• Municipal Manuals (1920-2000)
• Contracts and agreements (1906-1975)
• Tax Rolls (1903-1921 - sporadic coverage after 1911)
• Civic Relief Board files and other relief records (1920s-1940s; some restrictions)
• Building plans (1906-1950; some restrictions to access)
• City Engineer Annual Reports and other engineering reports (1911-1949)
• Chipman Book - sewer and water maps (ca. 1909)
• Reports and Correspondence relating to civic officials
• Woodlawn Cemetery Records (1903-1988; some restrictions)
• Town of Sutherland records (1907-1955)
• Voters' Lists (1909-1988)
• Saskatoon Fire Insurance plans (1907-1963)
• Henderson Directories (1909-2000); telephone books (2001-2007)
• Meewasin Valley Authority collection (1979-1989)
• 1989 Jeux Canada Games collection (1985-1990)
• Historical Miscellany - photographs and other documents (various)
• Hunter - Copeland - Foster family fonds
• Sutherland Forest Nursery Station fonds

Uncatalogued records at the present time include: City Clerks' records ca. 1960-1983; City Comptroller's and City Treasurer's office records; Public Works photographs (1930s-1970s); Leisure Services photographs (primarily 1980s); along with some early financial ledgers and other material.

Extent: 640 linear metres of textual records; ca 7,000 photographs
