Biographical history

Allan Archibald Bailey was born 22 March 1910 in Strathcona, Alberta. He attended the University of Toronto, where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 1935, and did postgraduate work at the University of Minnesota, specializing in neurology and psychiatry. He served in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps during World War II. After the war, he worked at the Mayo Clinic and the Ottawa Civic Hospital prior to joining the University of Saskatchewan in 1954. He was promoted to full professor in 1957, and became head of the Department of Medicine in 1962. He died on 3 October 1967.

Scope and content

This fond contains personal and general correspondence, as well as files relating to Professor Bailey's work with the Canadian Neurological Society and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. It also includes general correspondence files from the Department of Medicine, and material on the Laboratory and X-ray Committee.
