John C. Ellis, son of Rev. Henry Ellis, donated this record to the Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan in one accession in 2014: 2014-008 (February 5, 2014).

Scope and content

A compilation of still and silent moving images, transferred from film footage to DVD in 2011, of various people and scenes taken by the Rev. Henry Ellis. Ellis was the manager of the Diocese of Saskatchewan's Indian and Eskimo School Commission Missionary Society of the Church of England (the Onion Lake Residential School). Images include: interior scenes of the church sanctuary and school classrooms; group photographs of students and clergy outside the school; school buildings; and outdoor scenes of children playing at the school and on the Onion Lake First Nation Reserve (hockey, baseball, building snow forts). Captions that precede images and scenes include: Winter's Fairyland; Boy Scouts; Fuzzy Friends; Thanksgiving Service; Hallowe'en Party; Winter Scenery at Onion Lake.
