Biographical history

Julius Heinrick (Henry) Fortmann was born May 7, 1887 to married Hans Friedrick and Henriette Fortmann. The family was originally from Germany but immigrated to the United States of America. Fortmann married Jennie May Adsit on April 6, 1911 in the country of Redwood, Minnesota. In 1912, they immigrated to Maple Creek district, Saskatchewan to farm. They also farmed in Leinan and Expanse, Saskatchewan until Julius’ death in 1948. Jennie died in 1959 and they are both buried in Swift Current.

This series includes documents pertaining to the organization and application of life on the Fortmann farm. It contains insurance policies, mortgage agreements, deeds, receipts, workshop guides, and forms and permits from the Canadian Wheat Board.
