Biographical history

Bernadine Bujila (nee Hoeschen) was born on 21 January 1906, in Melrose, Minnesota. She received both a B.A. (1925) and B.Ed. (1930) from the University of Saskatchewan, and was also awarded the Governor-General's gold medal. She received her MA. from Columbia in 1928 and did further post-graduate work at both the University of Chicago and the University of Michigan, where she received her Ph.D. in 1947. After teaching in high schools in both the U.S. and Saskatchewan, Dr. Bujila joined the faculty of the U of S in 1935. She was appointed Assistant Professor in 1946 and Department Head in 1960. Dr. Bujila retired from the University in 1967.

This fonds contains files relating to the Department of French, including departmental minutes and annual reports; as well as files on the Library Committee, the Curriculum Revision Committee for Arts and Science, and the University Committee on Student Social Activities.
