Biographical history

Anthony J. Hruska (1917-) is the son of homesteaders in the Vallar-Gerald area of Saskatchewan, who arrived in Canada in 1900. He served in World War II, and began a mixed-farm operation near Gerald in 1949. He married Theresa Neumeier (1928-2009) in 1951 and they raised their family of three children (Pat, Gordon, and Colette) on the farm, remaining until 1965. Hruska was an active member of the parish of St. Wenceslaus, serving on the committee to build a new church building, and later writing its history. The Hruskas relocated into the village of Gerald, where Hruska was an agent for Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI). Hruska has a keen interest in politics, and has written a number of articles on local history topics. Hruska is currently (2010) residing in the Gerald area.
