Administrative history

The South African War Veterans Association was formed in Moose Jaw in 1936. The purpose of this organization was to be associated with the Provincial body of the organization and to provide a means for Veterans of the South African War to stay in touch with one another.
Mr. John Chisholm, K.C. was elected as the first president of the association, Jack Fields as vice president, Major Richard Loney as secretary treasurer and Tom Gibbs and Tony Anderson were elected as members of the executive committee.

Scope and content

This series contains cheque books of the South African War Veterans Association from 1948 to 1962. An account book of The Imperial Bank of Canada, tracking the account of the Association from 1938 until 1962 is included, along with this are account statements from the said Bank dating from 1945 through 1960. Also included receipt books of donations and membership dues paid to the association and receipts of certain purchases that were made with association funds. All these are considered in annual financial statements that are recorded by the association.
